 Educational Qualification of Senior Secondary Recruiters (SSR)

The applicants who finished their 10+2 exam with 60% or more marks in collective with Physics and Maths and at-least individually from one of these subjects: Computer/Chemistry/Biology/ from any Boards of School Education accepted by Govt. of India (Ministry of Human Resource and Development).


Candidates have to be born amidst the period of 01 Feb 2000 to 31 Jan 2003 considering both dates inclusive. Young unmarried male candidates are chosen by the Indian Navy as sailors as they have excellent knowledge and eager to learn attitude and also so that they can excel in their role.

Marks distribution for the examination:

English section will be having 25 questions each and carrying 25 marks each in total.

Candidates willing to apply for SENIOR SECONDARY RECRUITS (SSR) should follow the below-given steps.

Remember to keep your matriculation certificate & 10+2 Mark sheet ready for any situation or reference. This should be done before you fill the application form.

  • The applicant must make sure that while filling their Form for SENIOR SECONDARY RECRUITS, they need to provide their suitable and active email IDs and registered mobile numbers.
  • Students have to log in with the registered Email ID and then click on the tab of Current Opportunities.
  • Then next candidates have to click on the given “Apply” button
  • Make sure candidates need to fill the entire form. Before clicking the accept or submit button, candidates need to make sure all the details are accurate.
  • All essential documents need to be scanned & uploaded.
  • The snap of the candidate needs to be uploaded, having good quality and also with a BLUE BACKGROUND.
  • After submission of the application, candidates need to take a print out. Also, make sure to keep it preserved until the enrolment process is completed.


Candidates excluding SC/ST candidates (as they are exempted from payment of fees) are essentially told to pay a fee of Rs. 205/- (Rupees Two hundred five only) which will be via an online mode. Candidates can use net banking or Visa/ Master/ Rupay Credit/ Debit Card/ UPI.

It must be noted that fees once paid will not be refunded under any situation nor be kept in reserve for any other selection process or examination.


The training courses for candidates will commence from Feb 2020. The period of training of candidates will be for 22 weeks. SSR basic Training will be held at INS Chilka. It will be next extended to Professional training in the chosen trade in a range of Naval Training Establishments.

Trade or branch will be segregated as per the prerequisite of the Service.


Throughout the preliminary training period, there will be a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month possible.

On doing well and their subsequent completion of initial training, candidates will be located in the Defence Pay Matrix Level 3 (₹ 21,700- ₹69,100). After adding up, candidates will also be paid MSP equal to ₹ 5200/- per month + DA along with Group pay applicable for only Artificer Apprentice (AA) which equals to Rs. 6200/ + DA.

SENIOR SECONDARY RECRUITS (SSR) criteria of promotion:

Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) has an extension towards promotional activities. Cadets get promotions without difficulty based on their worth.

Promotion scenario exists up to the prescribed rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I which is Level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix

An amount of (₹ 47,600- ₹ 1,51,100) along with MSP @ ₹ 5200/ + DA (as applicable). There is also a promotional provision for the rank of a commissioned officer. It is for those cadets also who perform very well and meet the criteria of the examinations.
