Debate on the Plasma Therapy

 

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) considers the drop in plasma therapy as ineffective in recovering covid-19 patients. Experts claim that convalescent therapy saved some lives but the PLACID trial has raised some concerns too.

The proposal is to investigate the potential harms of the non-immune components of convalescent plasma.

 

Vigilance Awareness Week

 

The vigilance awareness week is scheduled to be held during the week from 27 October to November 2 2020, in between Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday falls. The theme is “Satark Bharat Samriddh Bharat”. CVC’s urge defines the organisation with the task of focusing on housekeeping activities for the improvement of internal processes, systematic improvements leveraging technology, and time-bound disposal of work.

74th Infantry Day

 

Indian Army celebrated the 74th Infantry day on 27 October. The day is celebrated annually for the honour of all the Martyrs of India and the infantrymen. The day is also celebrated as the Sikh Regiment and the Kumaon Regiment day. The colonels of the regiments of Indian Army and top commanders paid tribute to the infantrymen at NWM in Delhi.

13 compound regiments deployed at the ceremonial duties at NWM are from the regiment that was involved in the Last-Man Round at the battle of Rezang La against China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).


 


 

World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2020

 

The United Nations World Day for Audiovisual Heritage has been celebrated on October 27. The theme of the ceremony in 2020 was “The Window to the World”. The day is celebrated to start the adoption of the suggestion for the safeguarding and preservation of moving images in the general conference of UNESCO in 1980.

The day contributes to raising the awareness to take measures for the importance of audiovisual documents. And it also paid honour to the professionals.

 

Discovery of water on Sun-lit surface of the moon by SOFIA

 

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) confirmed water on the sunlit surface of the moon. It detected water molecules in Clavius Crater and the results were published in the issue of nature astronomy. Sofia used a 106-inch Faint Object Infrared Camera for the Sofia telescope for picking up the wavelength unique to water molecules at 6.1 microns.

 

 

Uttar Pradesh on the first rank for disbursing loans under PM SVANidhi Scheme

 

Uttar Pradesh has secured the first rank followed by Madhya Pradesh and Telangana in all categories of loans- Applications of loans, Disbursement of loans, and Sanctioning of loans under PM SVANidhi scheme. Among 6.2 lakh applications, Uttar Pradesh sanctioned 3.4 lakh applicants and disbursed loans to around 2.2 lakh beneficiaries.

Seven cities of Uttar Pradesh listed in top 10-Varanasi, Lucknow, Aligarh, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Ghaziabad, and Kanpur. On 27 October, Narendra Modi distributed loans to approximately 3 lakh beneficiaries. During the virtual event organised in 651 local bodies of the state, Narendra Modi interacted with beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh.

 

Check on stubble burning

 

As stubble burning is leading to air pollution, the centre is making plans to completely check on stubble burning in Delhi and other nearby areas. It informed the supreme court that draft legislation would be ready soon. Besides, it has suspended a one-man committee monitoring stubble burning. Some observations by the Supreme Court are incentives for people who are not following the rules. Also, there will be no benefit of MSP for those who continue stubble burning. Student patrolling is the step taken to monitor the situation.
