Shri Kiren Rijiju represented India in Y2 Global Summit

On 15th of October, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Kiren Rijiju from India’s side addressed Y2 Global Summit, hosted by Saudi Arabia. The meeting was aimed at exchanging ideas between Nations for the empowerment of the youth to fight against Covid-19. Shri Rijiju stressed on India’s efforts of increasing the number of youth volunteers and making them self-reliant. Also, the propagation of the Fit India movement envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now people’s movement. India is working towards the approach of making citizens physically and mentally fit and financially strong.

 

Event on World Food Day organised by FSSAI and chaired by Dr Harsh Vardhan

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan presided over the event “Grow, Nourish, Sustain Together” organised by FSSAI on World Food Day. The focus of the year is making India free of trans fat from the food supply chain by 2022. Trans fat is the major push towards non-communicable and cardiovascular diseases in India.

Other efforts India doing to improve the health of Indians and environment are ‘Eat right India’,  ‘Fit India Movement’, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan Mission and others by the Environment Ministry.

Dr Harsh Vardhan launched some books and guidelines that include food safety and hygiene guidelines for reopening of school canteens, the three books- Do you eat right?’, ‘Orange Book’, and ‘Daily Regulations and Food Fortification’.

 

Permission to use RPAS

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) conditionally exempted National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) to deploy Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS). It is for a geographical information system (GIS) for the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The conditional exemption is till 31st December 2020 or until Digital Sky Platform gets fully operationalised.

Some conditions and limitations include exemption from the provisions of CAR section 3, series X, part 1 is from rule 15A of the aircraft rules. NCRTC, New Delhi will use RPAS with only valid Drone Acknowledgement Number. Moreover, Security RPAS and data collected through it would be the responsibility of New Delhi.

BARC suspending ratings of all news channels

After the Mumbai police investigation, Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) has suspended the audience ratings for news channels for the next three months due to the possible interference of target rating point. The action is to curb infiltrators attempting to enter the panel homes, and also it is for robust statistics.

 

Centre borrowing for States to recover GST compensation shortfall

Centre may decide that Government of India will borrow rupees 1.1 lakh crore to provide the States as back to back loans to refill the GST compensation shortfall. The decision will also break the dead end between States and Centre.

States will undertake the borrowings with interest and principal repayment to pay from future GST cess collections.
