Online Grievance Redressal Portal for Scheduled Caste

 

The Union Government has launched the ‘Online Grievance Redressal Management Portal of NCS’ (NCS = National Commission for Scheduled Caste).

The portal was launched on the 130th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Indian Constitution Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

What is the purpose of the portal?

It intends to make the hearing procedure similar to the e-Courts Project of India.

It will allow grievance redressal for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes by investigating and monitoring cases online and safeguards the right of the people.

It also aims at resolving the cases in a time-bound manner.

Who developed the NCS portal?

The portal was developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology runs the Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics.

About Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Commission of India

Article 338 AND Article 338A of the Indian Constitution refers to the National Commission for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes respectively.

Initially, in 1978-2003 both the commissions were engraved under 338.

In 2003, the 89th amendment led to the bifurcation of both the commission independently.

The commission investigates, monitors, inquiries into specific complaints, and advises in the planning process to safeguards the rights of the people belong to Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste.

 

 

 

NATO and US to exit Afghanistan in coordination

 

Both US and NATO troops will withdraw from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021.

The symbolic day of 9th Sep will be the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the US’s World Trade Centre Buildings. The attack was conducted by terrorists of Al-Qaeda by hijacking the airliners.

After withdrawal who will look after the security of Afghanistan?

US has developed Afghanistan Military and Police over the years of their stay on Afghan Territory.

These Multi-billion security forces are expected to look after the security of Afghanistan as the peace talks are struggling and insurgency is resilient.

Also, NATO-backed Resilient Support will train and equip further the Afghan Security Forces to fight the Taliban.          

What is the Taliban?

It is a terrorist Organization that was ruling the Afghan Soil when the US invaded Afghanistan in late 2001.

As high as 40000 soldiers from numerous nations Canada, Australia, and countries from Europe roped into the rebuilding exercise of Afghanistan in tandem with the US troops.

About NATO

NATO stands for North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

It is an intergovernmental military alliance.

It was raised in 1949 after the Washington Treaty signed.

 

 

 

UNFPA’s State of World population Report 2021

 

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has released the State of World Population Report 2021 with the title ‘My Body My Own’.

What does the report say?

Half of women who belong to 57 developing countries cannot make decisions regarding their bodies, use of contraception, healthcare-related decisions, etc.

55% of women can make theory choices over healthcare, contraception, yes or no to physical sex.

This is the first time a UN report has brought bodily autonomy into the limelight.

What does Bodily Autonomy mean?

Bodily autonomy is the right to governance over our own bodies.

Female Genital Mutilations

Unwanted Sex

Domestic Violation

Adenovirus is recently in News

 

Adenovirus is a virus that can be used as ‘Viral Vector’. It is used in the US-based vaccine of Johnson and Johnson.

Recently, six women in the US suffered from blood clots out of 7 million given doses after having Johnson and Johnson’s vaccine dose.

After which US administration has paused the rollout of the one-shot vaccine of the company.

What are Viral Vectors?

These are the viruses used by scientists in making vaccines so that genetic materials can be delivered into the cell.

About the J&J Vaccine

The J&J vaccine comprises of the adenoviral vector.

The vector was made by removing its genetic material which vanishes the power of viruses to replicate or spread disease.

The shell of the virus is then inserted with genetic instruction on how to tackle or attack Coronavirus.

Astra Zeneca Vaccine has also used the phenomenon of Viral Vector of Adenoviruses.

In India, the Astra Zeneca Vaccine has been produced by the Serum Institute of India under the name Covishield.

But the Covishield contains Adenoviruses from Chimpanzee, unlike J&J who has gone for Adenoviruses from Human.

Adenovirus can cause a wide variety of illnesses in humans (From gastrointestinal infections to the Common Cold).

 

 

 

Two one-horned rhinos translocated under Indian Rhino Vision 2020

 

Under Indian Rhino Vision 2020 two one-horned rhinos have been translocated from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary to Manas National Park.

About Indian Rhino Vision 2020

The mission or vision was launched with an aim to increase the population count of rhinos in India. 

By translocating rhinos to new areas of Assam state, the program aims to increase the rhino’s numbers to 3000.

Rhinos in Assam

Rhinos are mainly found in following areas of Assam-

-Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

-Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park

-Kaziranga National Park

-Manas National Park

Rhinos existed in good numbers till the 1980s, but due to acts of encroachment and poaching, generations of rhino’s clan wiped out.

Only the Great One-horned rhinos are predominantly found in India. They are also known as Indian Rhinos. They are the largest rhino species found globally.

Other Saving efforts:

Five Rhino range nations including India, Bhutan, Nepal, Indonesia, and Malaysia have signed ‘The New Delhi Declaration on Asian Rhinos 2019’.

-Kaziranga National Park

-Orang National Park

-Manas National Park

-Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

-Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary, etc.

 

 

 

NHAI to make Network Survey Vehicle for Road Condition Survey

 

In a move to enhance the quality of National Highways in India, the National Highways Authority of India has decided to roll out a road condition survey program.

About the survey:

Surveys will be carried out at the time of completion of any National Highway project

Similarly, surveys will be conducted for all the National highways in the nation in every six months 

Latest survey techniques will be used along with high resolution digital cameras which will be utilized for capturing images and video recording.

Model instruments like Laser Road Profilometer will be used to find out distresses in the road.

The data collected in survey will be made available on NHAI’s Artificial Intelligence based portal ‘Data Lake’

This data will then be analyzed by the Road Asset Management Cell to assess the condition of the road and prioritize the maintenance locations.

e-SANTA inaugurated by the Union Commerce and Industry Minister

 

Mr. Piyush Goyal has inaugurated an electronic marketplace named e-SANTA. It will provide a platform to connect aqua farmers and buyers.

About the e-Marketplace

The platform will ensure that the farmers will get a better price and enables exporters to directly purchase quality products from the farmers.

This will help to provide direct benefit to the farmers.

The portal will be expected to play a key role in international trade.

Following are the advantages of the e-SANTA to the farmers:

It will reduce the risk.

The portal will help to spread awareness regarding products and markets.

Eventually helps to increase income of farmers.

It will protect farmers from wrong practices.

Encourage other marginal farmers to become aqua farmers.

Online portals will reduce the paperwork and in turn will ease the process.

 

 

 

ITCN program for proving certified training and capacity building modules

 

The program was launched by the National Institute of Urban Affairs and Bernard van Leer Foundation.

ITCN stands for – Infant Toddler and caregiver-friendly Neighborhoods.

About the program

The program aims to provide help to build capacities of city officials and young professionals for nurturing/developing young children in a family friendly neighborhood within the cities of the nation.

It is an investment into a future productive economy.

Young Professionals will be provided with academic courses on completion of which they will get a certificate. These professionals will be taught things regarding the necessities and needs of infants and children of age group 0 to 5 years so that they can be equipped with adequate tools for the purpose.

Why there is a need for such an initiative?

Joint Family Culture is vanishing.

Urban population increasing (by 2030 it will be 600 million), hence to survive, more income sources are required.

Standard of living of individuals and families are increasing hence, city life demands working of both mother and father.
