Webinar for Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebration organised by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas
On 31st October, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas organised a webinar to celebrate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Shri Tarun Kapoor, Secretary, MoPNG highlighted his contributions in the independent India and encouraging people to uphold vision of Sardar Patel in daily activities. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s vision for oil and gas industry to serve people in an efficient manner was under the highlight.
Protection from imports time bound
To promote local manufacturing in India, any tariff protection will come with an inbuilt sunset clause. It would ensure the security of the self-reliant mission. India has imposed restrictions on the import of several items. The government is set to start extending the production incentive scheme for medical devices, manufacturing pharmaceuticals, and electronics under Atmanirbhar Bharat package to 6 more sectors.
Asking for comments on the draft coastal shipping bill 2020
The ministry of shipping has invited stakeholders to comment on the draft coastal shipping bill 2020. Comments are to be sent within a week.
The bill is with the proposal of exempting Indian flag vessels from the trading licence for coastal trade. It also imposes action ships for their eligibility. Moreover, it provides a strategy to recommend different ways of integrating inland waterways route with Maritime coastal transport.
Coastal shipping has now been governed under the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
