- IAF officer shoots self with service rifle in J&K
An IAF jawan allegedly committed suicide in J&K by shooting himself with his service rifle. Shubham Singh Parmar, 22, was on sentry duty at Air Force Station, Udhampur, at that time. The reason behind his suicide is still unknown.
- Rajnath Singh to launch Atmanirbhar Bharat Saptah
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has announced to launch ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Saptah’ on Monday to make India self-reliant with increased domestic manufacturing.
He also announced that India would discontinue the import of 101 weapons and military platforms such as transport aircraft, conventional submarines, cruise missiles on a staggered basis till 2024.
- Armed forces push the case for arming Israeli drone fleet with laser-guided bombs
Amid the on-going border disputes with China in the Ladakh region, the armed forces are pushing a case to arm their Heron UAVs with laser-guided bombs, precision-guided munitions, and anti-tank missiles.
They called this proposal as Project Cheetah is being revived by the army forces and is likely to cost over Rs 3500 crores to the Indian Government.
- IAF night flies Chinook over DBO
The IAF Chinook helicopters flew in the night over 16,000 feet Daulet Beg Oldi, after the increase of road-building activity of China’s PLA in the area across the LAC.
This decision to fly Chinook during the night time was taken to check the Indian Army’s capability of rapid insertion of special forces in case the situation deteriorates.
- Six members of LeT terror financing network arrested in J&K
The security officials detained six members of the LeT terror-financing network. Based on the inputs by the army, security forces arrested Muddasir Farooq Bhat and recovered Rs 1.50 lakh from him. In the interrogation, Bhat accepted that he was connected to the LeT terror financing network and also revealed information about other team members.
All of them were working for Pakistan-based terrorist Mohmmad Amin Bhat alias Haroon alias Ubhair.
