Indian Navy-Sri Lanka Navy Maritime exercise SLINEX-20 scheduled
The eighth edition of annual Indian Navy Sri Lanka Navy Maritime exercise SLINEX-20 has been scheduled off Trincomalee from 19 to 21 October 2020. It will be conducted in a non-contact at-sea-only format. It is to enhance mutual understanding and interoperability. Both countries will be exchanging the best practices and procedures for maritime operations.
The exercises have strengthened the bond between the two countries.
BrahMos missile test-fired
India has successfully test-fired the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile in the Arabian sea. The top speed of the rocket is Mach 2.8. It can hit 400 kilometres away.
Other recently tested missiles include new versions of the nuclear-capable hypersonic Shaurya missile which has a range of 750 kilometres, and the another is an anti-radiation missile which comes into the power to fight with enemy radars and surveillance systems.
CRPF and IIT Delhi DRDO to collaborate 500 high- tech experts
The CRPF has planned to train 500 officers to make them capable of facing any situation. There will be 3 to 6 months certificate course under IIT Delhi for 14 general graduate officers of the Central Reserve Police Force who have right aptitude and potential. Then, the selected ones will undergo higher degree courses. They will be associated with joint research projects.
Therefore, CRPF and IIT Delhi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding also.
India and US to sign BECA
As per the decision to be taken in the 2+2 meeting on 26-27 October, India and the United States are ready to sign the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geospatial Corporation. The draft is prepared and is waiting for government clearance and signing. It is the agreement to lead the armed forces of both countries to closer ties. Union Cabinet may clear the agreement before the meeting for the final announcement.
The two countries had already signed the LEMOA and COMCASA.

There has been a demand for India-Taiwan relationship advancement on social media. Leading English news channel WION published many news pieces and program on Taiwan National Day. Another news broadcaster broadcasted an interview with the Foreign Minister of Taiwan Joseph Wu.

Astra Mk1 BVRAAMs: Operational with IAF
IAS has confirmed the operation of the indigenously developed Astra Mk1 beyond visual range air to air missile. It is confirmed to be equipped and carried by the frontline Sukhoi-30MKI jets. Astra Mk1 BVRAAMs is seemed to be equivalent to the framed American AIM-120C5 AMRAAM for its capacities and range.
Indian Navy and IAF have placed more orders for 250 Astra Mk1 BVRAAMs.
