Contract for supply of specialized patrol boats signed between GSL and Indian Army
Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) signed a deal with the Indian Army for a supply of 12 nos. high performance specialized patrol crafts adding another high-performance product to its diverse product profile. On 31st December 2020 the contract was signed between the Indian Army and GSL represented by its CMD, Cmde BB Nagpal at New Delhi. Among public and private Shipbuilders from India the contract was bagged by GSL on a competitive basis.
Even though over 170 GRP boats for the Ministry of Home Affairs and other customers had been previously built by GSL, these patrol crafts for the Indian Army are required to be built on a completely brand new design and equipped with specialized instruments, to meet the needs of the Indian Army.
The tender for these 12 nos specialized crafts which are to be supplied to the Indian Army in 2021 itself had been released by the Indian Army a couple of months earlier. There will be only a few crafts on earth for such specialized operations and these crafts will be constructed at GSL, Goa.
