• The first anniversary of revocation of Article 370 in J&K

Two back to back lockdowns in J&K – the first one after the revocation of Article 370 and the second one due to coronavirus – has left it in disarray.

There is a downfall of the tourism industry in J&K, and 4G internet services are not yet restored. Its economy has sustained massive damage due to these lockdowns. Although terrorism has gone down, the cross-border infiltrations have increased, and local people are being recruited to be part of terror activities.

The internet shutdown from August 4, 2019, to March 5, 2020, has been the longest in any democracy. Only 2G and broadband internet services were restored after the shutdown is uplifted.

  • Hindu Sena files complaint against Owaisi’s Babri tweet

Hindu Sena has lodged a complaint against Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi and the AIMPLB for spreading hatred and violence against ‘minor Ram Lalla,’ the deity’s property, and the Hindu community.

Owaisi shared a tweet on his official Twitter account saying, “#BabriMasjid thi, hai aur rahegi inshallah #BabriZindaHai.” Hindu Sena’s National President, Vishnu Gupta, requested the Delhi Police to lodge an FIR against Asaduddin Owaisi and the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) for promoting such violent propaganda.


  • Rain and winds at cyclone speed lash Mumbai.

According to the prediction of the Indian Meteorological Department’s prediction, heavy rain and high-velocity winds lashed Mumbai for the second day on August 5. Maharashtra’s CM Uddhav Thackeray’s advised the citizens to stay indoors.

Based on the inputs, wind speed flowing to 106 km/hr in the Colaba area of Mumbai on Wednesday. These winds were more intense than those of the recent cycle Nisarg. Several houses and roofs collapsed, trees uprooted, and passengers got stuck in local trains.


  • ED gets custody of Kerala gold smuggling case accused.

The custody of the three main accused in the gold smuggling case in Kerala is given to Enforcement Directorate. In July 2020, the Enforcement Directorate lodged a money laundering case in connection with the racket.

A special court in Thiruvananthapuram handed over Sarith PS, Swapna Suresh, and Sandeep Nair to the ED custody. The NIA arrested them after the case was given to them by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) due to national security implications.

  • Sitaram Yechury says Ram Mandir Bhoomi pujan is a Constitution’s violation.

Sitaram Yechury, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India, said that Ram Mandir’s Bhoomi pujan was a violation of our Constitution in letter and spirit.

He tweeted that the takeover of the temple’s construction in the presence of Governor and CM of Uttar Pradesh was damage to the secular democratic character of India. He further tweeted that it was also a violation of the Supreme Court’s judgment that trust will take the construction.

Sitaram also tweeted that the Bhoomi pujan was a violation of the public health protocols set by the Union Health Ministry for the coronavirus pandemic that has banned religious gatherings.

  • Rapes and murders increased in Andhra Pradesh due to police failure.

The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and national president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Chandrababu Naidu, has pointed out the failures of the state police that have led to a rise in the crime rate.

He wrote a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP), Gautam Sawang, in which he expressed worries in the increasing criminal activities in the state. He also asked for immediate actions against the accused of the murder of a tribal woman in Nakrekal.

He alleged that in just 14 months, 400 women were victims of heinous crime in the state. Around 15 gang-rapes happened, 8 women were murdered, and 6 women committed suicide due to humiliation.

He blamed the corruption in the police and their political bosses for the increased crime rates.


  • Rhea Chakraborty summoned in Sushant’s money laundering case.

Rhea Chakraborty has been asked to be present before the ED on Friday, August 7, regarding an investigation as she is suspected in Sushant’s money laundering case.

The ED had filed the case last week over ‘suspicious transactions’ worth Rs 15 crore from Sushant’s bank account. This case was filed after the FIR lodged by the Bihar Police.

  • A 75-year-old woman raped and brutally assaulted in Kerala.

A 75-year-old woman was raped and brutally assaulted in Ernakulum in Kerala on Sunday. The woman is being treated at a private hospital, and the doctors said that her condition has slightly improved.

The police have arrested three people who were involved in this incident. Out of the arrested persons, there is one 66-year-old woman. The victim was raped at one of the accused’s house.

One person raped her, and the other one, who was drunk, assaulted her brutally. She had to undergo emergency surgeries after the incident as she suffered deep wounds in her private parts and injuries on her chest and stomach areas. Later several scans also showed the injuries to her internal organs.

  • GC Murmu, the Lieutenant Governor of J&K, resigns.

According to sources, he has already resigned and now searching for his descendant. The post of Comptroller and Auditor General is likely to go vacant after incumbent Rajiv Mehrishi turns 65. Since this post is a constitutional post, it cannot be left vacant.

Mr. Murmu worked with our PM Narender Modi when he was the CM of Gujarat. After Narender Modi became the PM, Murmu joined the Union Finance Ministry.

  • Delhi government banned hookah under Pandemic Act.

The Kejriwal government has decided to ban hookah and other similar products under the Pandemic Act. The main reason behind this ban is said to be the threat of corona infection. The Delhi Government announced that the WHO has issued information on the risk factor associated with coronavirus infection.

It states that the fingers come in contact with the lips while smoking hookah and other similar products. It increases the chances of getting infected by coronavirus, especially for smokers. Smokers may already be suffering from pulmonary disease, which can worsen the situation in case of a corona infection.
