5.3% rise in export and 19.6% fall in import

In the initial months country’s exports contracted but after, it rose by 5.7 % year-on-year $27.4 billion in September while imports plunged by 19.6% to $30.31 billion.

In totality, exports during April to September declined by 21.4% $125.06 billion while imports stood at $148.69 billion, contracted by 40%.

Commodities with the highest growth in exports are iron ore(109.5%), and the minimum is of coffee( 0.79%).

Non-oil imports in September declined by 51.1% to $31.85 billion. Especially gold imports declined by 52.9%.


Atal Tunnel inauguration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world’s longest Highway tunnel Atal tunnel at its South portal in Manali. He congratulated the engineers for the attachment of finally built tunnel in Pir Panjal ranges in Himachal. The tunnel would be greatly beneficial for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir Leh and Ladakh. It would be helpful for tourists, farmers, horticulture, youth, and security forces. It will strengthen India’s border infrastructure and will be proof of world-class border connectivity.

Virtual summit ‘RAISE’ to be organised from 5-9 October

From October 5-9, NITI Aayog and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is going to organise a global digital summit on Artificial Intelligence named RAISE 2020- ‘Responsible AI for social empowerment 2020’. 44 session will be featured in the summit over 5 days. The meeting will strengthen solutions for social issues. Professor Vijayaraghavan scientific advisor to the Government of India will address the special session of “AI Research-Lab to Market.”

More than 38,700 stakeholders were registered to participate in Raise in 2020. On the third day experts from Google Research India, MIT, Berkeley, IBM India and South Asia, and World Economic Forum will address the session. 


Benefits of new farm laws and labour reform laws

According to Union labour and employment Minister Shri Santosh Gangwar, under the new formulas, farm budget has increased 11 fold to Rs 1.34 lakh crore from rupees 12000 crores in 2009-10. Farmers have been given the freedom to sell the products anywhere in the country at better prices. 

Labour reforms have extended social security of over 50 crore workers. In 73 years, the first-term government has set a true labour welfare mechanism in the country. Union labour minister explained the benefits of social security fund and reskilling fund in national conferences.



India-Russia webinar on the use of natural gas as motor fuel

Under the ministry of petroleum and natural gas Government of India and the ministry of energy of the Russian Federation organised the India-Russia webinar on the use of natural gas as motor fuel. Memorandum of understanding has been signed. There was stress on the collaboration between the two Nations. There were two technical sessions on CNG and LNG as a transport fuel. It is projected that India will have 120000 LNG vehicles by 2030. the webinar is expected to come up with practical measures by the two Nations for each others’ development.


Responsibility of observing Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st October to 15th October on the Ministry of Panchayati Raj

From 1st October to 15 October 2020 Swachhta Pakhwada of the ministry of Panchayati Raj is going under this special cleanliness drive to improve hygiene and sanitation practices noticing the effects of coronavirus.

It was launched by Shri Sunil Kumar secretary Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and it was administered in Hindi and English language. Staff members and senior officers participated in shramdaan with The Appeal of No to Plastic.


E-launching of the Tribal Entrepreneurship Development Programme

Ministry of Tribal Affairs and associated chambers of commerce and industry of India (ASSOCHAM) have launched a new three year initiative for Tribal Entrepreneurship Development. It was e-launched by Shri Arjun Munda. ASSOCHAM is in the partnership of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, and it is under the centre for Excellence Initiative. More than 4.5 lakh SMEs are associated with the organisation.

Also, a webinar called “Khadi: Symbol of independent Atmanirbhar Bharat” was conducted. More than 300 participants attended the event through video conference.
