PM Modi addressing the United Nations General Assembly

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the origin of India. He signified the time of 75 years ago when an institution came into the way and “India was part of the novel vision as the founding signatory of the UN charter”. He signified the United Nations as the reason for the betterment for their advanced actions towards peace and development. India has been the leading contributor in the UN peacekeeping missions. However, he highlighted the untouched but essential aspects such as eliminating conflicts, development, knowing climate changes, proper use of digital technologies and reducing inequalities. Finally, he addresses the need for reformed multilateralism to cope up with modern challenges.

Commissioning of PFBR in 2022 after which there would be 500 MW of electrical power to the national grid

Due to technical challenges and design inadequacies, commissioning of the prototype fast breeder reactor is in the delay since the last three years. But now the completion of commissioning is expected by October 2022. PFBR was constructed by Bhartiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam limited. After commissioning, PFBR will add 500MW electric power to the national grid.

Returning of 11 lakh Indians under Vande Bharat mission; Lifeline UDAN for a steady supply of essentials

Monday Bharat mission has chartered flights operated by Indian and foreign carriers and select repatriation flights operated by only Indian carriers. The Ministry of External Affairs has provided the information about 11 lakh Indians excluding land border crossing have come back to their areas under the Vande Bharat mission. The data of country-wise and state-wise returned passengers is uploaded at Annexure A.

Launching of lifeline Udaan was done by the Ministry of Civil Aviation 26 March 2020. The initiative is the display of essentials and medical supplies and other material to each corner of the country. For a good maintenance, the ministry has supported the establishment of the mechanism to align the requirements state-wise with the superior flight plans.

Also, some states are granted with a conditional exemption for a remotely piloted aircraft system.

Parliament passed the essential commodities Amendment Bill 2020

Rajya Sabha has passed the essential commodities Amendment Bill 2020. Also, it has removed the commodities of cereals, pulses, edible oils, onions and potatoes, and oil seeds from the list of essential commodities. The EC bill is the aim of motivating private investors in the business operations without the fear of excessive regulator interference. It is also to prevent wastage of Agri producer by strengthening the growth plate in the mechanism of the agriculture sector. It is towards the government’s mission of doubling farmers’ income.

 Nrityanjali- an online film festival by Films Division on Indian classical dance and Maestros

Ministry of Information and broadcasting, films division has another fiesta “Nrityanjali” which is an online film festival on Indian classical dance and Maestros. It is from 23rd to 25th September 2020. It will consist of 10 films on the works and life of India’s leading classical dancers. Documentaries to be screened would be- Sitara Devi, Yamini Krishnamurthy, Raja Radha, Guru Amubi Singh, A luminous jewel- Pt. Birju Maharaj, Kalamandalam Gopi, Padma, Kanak Rele, Sonal and dreamer.

Launching of YuWaah

The United Nations Children Fund ( UNICEF )and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have passed the statement of intent for the establishment of YuWaah. It is a global multi-stakeholder platform in India and generation unlimited (GenU) with some objectives. Providing relevant experts for technical working groups is the responsibility of the department of youth affairs.

Permission of three labour bills

Parliament has passed three bills- 1) code on Occupational Safety, Health and Working conditions,2020 2)  Industrial Relations Vode 3) Social Security Code, 2020. It is the first reform for 73 years back. The government also has accounted measures for fulfilling the dreams of Babasaheb Ambedkar from 2014 by giving the equality to Shramev Jayate and Satyamev Jayate.

It includes 9 tripartite consultations, 10 regional conferences,  10 inter-ministerial consultations, 4 sub committee meetings, and views of citizens.

The bills account for district Development of the country by keeping view of the labours who have suffered most without procedural complexities.

The benefits of codes include extending the reach of ESIC and EPFO by social security code. Occupational Safety Health and working conditions code 2020 allows free health check-up and some more. Industrial relations code 2020 enables provisions  for two members in the industrial tribunal adults, and implementation of the award in a month after tribunal award. Recognition to trade unions at the centre in state level and provision for reskilling funds also come under its benefits.

Jammu and Kashmir official languages bill

Lok sabha has passed Jammu and Kashmir official language bill 2020 in which the languages include Kashmiri, Hindi, and Dogri as the official ones in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir rather than only two languages English and Urdu as before.

56% of the population understands and communicates in Kashmiri but still it is not an official language.

Mr Reddy has also mentioned the provision for academies to promote Punjabi, Pahadi, and Gojri.
