1. Fiscal and monetary policies and measures during COVID-19


Under Aatma Nirbhar Bharat package of rupees 20 lakh crores, the government has implemented some measures which are mentioned below along with results.

 The measures include:

1) Relief measures, cash transfer, insurance coverage for  workers, wage increase for MGNREGA workers, support in construction, collateral-free loans, employment provision for migrant workers, and reduction in EPF contributions.

2) Regulatory and compliance measures 3) Reforms like deregulation of the agricultural sector, FDI limits in defence and space sector, new PSU policy, and so more.

RBI uses conventional and unconventional measures to reduce the impact of COVID-19. Policy rates have declined and approximately rupees 9.57 lakh crore have been injected for the economic flow.

Benefits-1) 42 crore poor people financially assisted under PMGKP 2) 3 lakh crore collateral-free loans 3) sanctioning of rupees 30000 crores for liquidity scheme 4) 3% to 5% borrowing limits of state governments increased 5) 30000 crore additional emergency working capital funding

Overall, growth in July August and September was higher.


2) Digitalisation of gram panchayats into E-Gram Swaraj Portal


The development of e-Gram Swaraj Portal is to strengthen rural India through monitoring, planning, accounting, asset details, and evaluation of work. It is combined with the local government directory, the area profile application, and the public financial management system for the ease. 2.43 lakh Gram Panchayats have been on e-Gram Swaraj and 1.24 lakh transacted online through e-Gram swaraj online payment till the year 2020-21.



3) Intensive cleaning and sanitisation of Indian railways


All over Indian railways are following Swachhata Pakhwada from 16th to 30th September 2020. Proper cleaning and sanitization of everything is under the process, especially focusing on plastic waste management. Moreover use of IEC and webinars like ‘Swachhata and Environment’ explaining steps of Indian railways for management and conservation, green rating, and convergence of fire initiatives into Swachh Bharat mission has been organised.


4) Actions regarding reduction in drug usage


Shri Ratan lal Kataria, the ministry of Social justice and empowerment, is implementing NAPDDR, the national action plan for drug demand reduction, includes awareness programs, interactions, provisioning of treatment facilities, and so on. 272 most affected districts that are identified by NCB are now under the Nasha mukt Bharat Abhiyan.


5) New financial model for interest subvention


A new financial model for interest subvention is going to be implemented for individual beneficiaries and self-help groups comprising SC and OBC categories by the Ministry of Social justice and empowerment. The agency for SC/SHGs will be by National Scheduled Caste Finance and Development Corporation and for OBC/SHGs agency will be from National Backward Class Finance and Development corporation. Thus, SHGs found under national rural livelihood mission, who availed loans through PSB and RRB will be provided with a low rate of interest.


6) Control on malnutrition through MoU


Shri Ram Mohan Mishra, the Ministry of Women and Child Development and Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, the ministry of Ayush signed the memorandum of understanding(MoU) in the presence of Srimati Smriti Zubin Irani Minister of WCD, for the management of malnutrition under Poshan Abhiyaan. Anganwadi workers providing a message to the community would be designated as dedicated health activist to replenish the innutrition (DHATRI). And the two ministers have decided to use the #Ayush4Anganwadi.



7) Two bills passed by parliament regarding transformation in agriculture


Parliament passed the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (promotion and facilitation) Bill, 2020. The former ensured the local dispute redressal mechanism in the formation of a 10,000 farmer producer organisation, and the later do clarification of training in the farm will be on electronic platforms, and e-NAM will continue in the mandis. These were introduced on 14 September 2020 in Lok Sabha. There will be full protection to farmers in these legislations.


8) Accident insurance coverage to PMJDY account holders


PMJDY account holders are provided a free RePay debit card with the accident insurance cover of rupees 100000(200000 for the accounts opened after 28.08.2018) under Pradhan mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana for the age group of 18 years to 70 years. Then, all eligible for  PMJDY account holders can go for Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana ( PMSBY), for age groups of 18 to 70 years, and Pradhan mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) for age groups of 18 years to 50 years.


9) Amendment of foreign contribution Regulation Act making aadhaar mandatory


According to Parliament proceedings,  amendment of the foreign contribution act is set. It was introduced in the Lok Sabha by the ministry of state for home Nityananda Rai. It proposes to make the identification document essential for the office staff of an NGO to be eligible for receiving foreign donations. It is required for more transparency and accountability in the receipt for the utilisation of foreign contributions .

2 entities- corporation owned or controlled by the government and public servant are not allowed to receive foreign donations. 2010-2019 has noticed doubled annual inflow of foreign contribution, but these were not used for the right purpose due to which government cancelled more than 19000 organisations’ certificate of registration.

10. Demand by the NBA for making ethic code compulsory to all news channels


The news broadcasters association told the supreme court to include the ethic code in the program code of the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994 as compulsory to stop TV news channels from airing biased, malicious, and regressive content. The orders by NBSE should be enforceable on the channels otherwise, penalties would be strict. Date September 21 is decided by the court to hear the case.


11. Sanctions on Iran have now been restored


Donald Trump’s administration explained to all United Nations sanctions on Iran has been imposed. And the date decided to expire will no longer be done and conventional arms embargo will continue. The snapback will ask to suspend nuclear weapon delivery systems related anything. On the complaint of Iran breaching nuclear deal to the security council, the USA imposing unilateral sanctions in a bid for a new deal for Iran. Meanwhile, Biden vice president of the time Obama administration, Woodbridge decided the deal on time Iran resumed compliance.
