- Ganja of ₹1.38 crore found in a truck in Thane, Maharashtra
On Saturday, 1 August 2020, police officials found Ganja worth ₹1.38 crore from an abandoned truck parked near a decrepit structure in the Manpada area (in Thane city).

The high-level Group of Ministers (GOM) have given the nod to the proposal of Health Ministry to allow the export of indigenously made ventilators after the COVID death rate falls to 2.15%.
- 11 people killed in a crane accident in Hindustan Shipyard – Visakhapatnam
Eleven people lost their lives on the spot after a crane collapsed and fell on the workers at Hindustan Shipyard in Visakhapatnam. All of them were employees working at the site. Bodies of 10 people have been found and identified, while the 11th person’s body is yet to be retrieved.
- Amar Singh passed away in Singapore
Former leader of Samajwadi party and a Rajya Sabha MP, Amar Singh, died at the age of 64 in Singapore. Amar Singh was undergoing some medical treatment. In 2011, he had a kidney transplant and was not doing well for a long time. Defense minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief through his tweet.

- Coronavirus cases in West Bengal cross the 70,000 mark
On Friday, West Bengal recorded a spike of 2,496 positive coronavirus cases, taking the total to 70,188 cases in the state. Along with the RT-PCR tests, the government has started testing through antigen tests in Kolkata and North 24 Parganas, the two worst-affected areas.
