The SSB interview is one of the most important components of the SSB selection procedure. The interview is primarily aimed at analysing the personality of the candidate. The IO tries to find out whether you have the required qualities to become an officer in the armed forces.
However, everyone is not able to clear the SBB interview and get selected. This does not necessarily mean that you are not capable enough to be successful.
Each candidate appearing for the interview has his own share of strengths and weaknesses. Failure in one sphere does not mean failure in every other sphere of life. If you are confident about your own abilities and strengths then you will surely succeed.
Here, we have for you as examples, four famous personalities who could not clear the SSB interview but have been tremendously successful in life.
• Amitabh Bachchan: It might sound unbelievable, but Amitabh Bachchan had attempted the SSB several times. He had dreams of joining the armed forces. However, he was not successful. Recalling his stint, Bachchan himself said that he did feel disappointed with his failure. However, he decided to move on with life. He had belief in his abilities and knew that he would succeed. His achievement as one of the biggest actors of all times is there for all to see today.
• Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: Kalam is one of the best examples of someone who became immensely successful even after failing to get selected at the SSB. What is ironical is that he went on to become the commander of the Armed forces as the President of the country. His contributions to the country’s defence sector remains unparalleled.
• Shah Rukh Khan: One of the leading actors of the Hindi film industry, Shah Rukh Khan too was a defence aspirant. He had tried his luck at the SSB but he did not succeed. His parents were also not too keen that he joined the army. Through sheer hard work and determination, Shah Rukh Khan went on to become one of the foremost actors of today’s generation. He has also beautifully essayed the characters of army personnel in films like ‘Veer Zaara’, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ and ‘Army’. His role as an army officer in the television series ‘Fauji’ catapulted him to fame.
• Rahul Dravid: Rahul Dravid’s name is synonymous with the cricket greats of all times. He is one of the best cricketers the country has ever produced. Dravid too had a dream of joining the armed forces. He, however, could not clear the SSB. He proved his worth in the field of sports and became one of the best cricketers of all times. Dravid is still remembered for his sincere professionalism and love for the game.
The examples of these four accomplished and well-known personalities must have put across the point to all present and aspiring SSB candidates. Failing to clear the SSB does not mean that it is the end of the road. Rather it means that you are meant for something else where you might be even more successful.
